Since the power came back on several weeks ago, our furnace has not been behaving. It did fine for over a week or so after the storm, but then it just quit working. We called someone to come out and look at it, and during the time we waited for them to come out we froze! It was a week before anyone had time to come. We wore 3 or 4 layers of clothes, but poor Katie was still cold. We tried everything we could think or afford to do to warm her up, but she being two, doesn't sit still for long. At nights Steve would bundle her up like a burrito. As much as I could during the day I propped her up on the couch in several fleece blankets to keep warm. When someone finally came out to look at it, they only got it work for a day or two. Then it went back to misbehaving. We had someone come out again and this guy didn't even look at it. He said that it was installed incorrectly because it is above the garage and that we need to have the drain pipe cut and drip into a bucket. I asked that guy to leave and had someone else come out again. Friday night the guy cleaned the furnace, worked on and cleaned out the drain pipes, ran tests and got it to work. He said that if it still doesn't behave after all that then the circuit board needs to be replaced. He said that sometimes when there is a power outage and a tramsformer blows (we had two in our area) it sends a power spike. The boards in these furnaces are sensitive enough that a small spike like that could fry the board. It would work some, but intermittently and/or quit altogether. Well, guess what!? The furnace is still misbehaving and it is really a minute by minute prayer that it stays on. With the winter storm and it being so cold, especially at night we are struggling not to lose patience. God is good and he will not fail, but when I see poor Katie's hands and feet being so cold it is hard not to be discouraged.
